Biographical Information[edit]

Nelson Gómez played in the minors and for the Puerto Rican national team.

He was a three-time All-North Eastern Athletic Conference pick, setting the Keystone College record for career homers (34) and single-season RBI (70) and total bases (148) and finishing second with a .438 average. [1] He was picked by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 24th round of the 2008 amateur draft, between Thomas Field and Taylor Jungmann. Playing the corner infield mostly for the Missoula Osprey, he hit .276/.336/.462 with ten homers in 59 games in 2008, driving in 45. He led the team in homers and RBI. He split 2009 between the Visalia Rawhide (.192/.323/.231 in 8 G) and South Bend Silver Hawks (.219/.277/.317 in 95 G, fielding .985 at 1B) for a rough second season as a pro to end his minor league career.

Nelson was 4 for 12 with a double, homer, walk, two runs and two RBI in the 2015 Pan American Games, handling 26 chances error-free at first, which he split with Richard González. [2] He went deep off Team USA's Scott McGregor. He was then banned for a positive test for boldenone. [3]
