Nathan Laot has pitched in French Division I and for the French national team.
Laot debuted in French Division I in 2022. The teenager was 1-5 with a 7.40 ERA for the Paris Université Club. [1] In the 2022 U18 European Championship, he beat Lithuania but lost to Germany, posting a 2.33 ERA. He tied Mathis Nayral and Tanguy Meurant for the team lead with two games started on the hill. [2]
The right-hander was 1-2 with a save and a 2.14 ERA for Toulouse Stade Toulousain Baseball in 2023, showing major strides. He was 10th in the league in ERA and tied for 4th in appearances. [3] In the 2023 U23 European Championship, he had a 7.00 ERA and saved Nicolas Antoine's win over Germany. [4] He capped the year with his debut for the senior national team, still only 18 years old at the 2023 European Championship. Only Ben Couvrier was younger on their staff. He got the starting nod against Ukraine. He began by retiring Kostiantyn Chukhas. Roman Boiko and Illia Velykyi followed with singles then advanced on a wild pitch but Laot calmed down to fan Viacheslav Babii and get Denys Brechko on a fly. He wound up going four innings, allowing two more hits and one more walk while striking out four more, before Robyn Clara relieved. He got the win over Ihor Lukin. [5]
