Biographical Information[edit]
Viacheslav Babii has been on the Ukrainian national team.
He hit .222/.263/.389 with four RBI in five games in the 2018 U18 European Championship. [1] He missed the 2021 European Championship while being treated for cancer at age 20. [2] He batted .368/.429/.526 for BioTexCom KNTU in the 2023 Federations Cup though he allowed an event-high 13 steals at catcher. [3] He then started at catcher for Ukraine in the 2023 European Championship, hitting cleanup in their opener against Croatia. While he was retired by former Red Sox farmhand Carlos García his first time up, he later singled off him. He batted .235/.316/.295 for the tournament and fielded .900, throwing out one of six on the bases. [4]
