Biographical Information[edit]

Tanguy Meurant is the brother of Mathis Meurant, son of David Meurant and nephew of Samuel Meurant and Anthony Meurant. [1]

Meurant debuted with the Templiers de Sénart in 2021. In the 2021 CEB Cup, he was 1 for 2 with a walk and a run and allowed two hits and one run in five innings, teaming with José Paula and Clifford Heberden in a three-hitter against the Therwil Flyers. He also saved their win over Minsk. [2] In the 2021 U-18 European Championship, he started at first for France, hitting .286/.476/.429 with five walks, seven runs and seven RBI in five games, going 4-for-5 in steals and posting a 4.67 ERA as well. He tied for third in the event in RBI, while his only his brother scored more runs for the French. He tied for 8th in the event in walks and only teammate Joseph Toubeaux had more swipes. [3] He remained with France for the 2021 U-23 European Championship, allowing no runs in 3 2/3 IP and getting the win over Belgium and Matthew Joossens. He did not take the field in that event. [4]

He continued with France for the 2021 European Championship; he was not the first two-generation player on the team (his father and both uncles had played for France), as Gédéon Coste and Léo Jiminian were the sons of former French national team players as well. He debuted in a 10-0 loss to Israel, relieving Esteban Prioul with one out in the 9th, two on and a 7-0 deficit. He struck out Jordan Petrushka, gave up a three-run shot to Assaf Lowengart then retired Itai Goldner. His other game, he relieved Prioul in the 5th against Germany, the bases loaded and one out, down 1-0. He gave up a sacrifice fly to Eric Brenk then got Simon Gühring to escape further harm. In the 6th, he was relieved by Coste. [5]

For the Templiers in the French Division I that summer, he hit .281/.378/.281 and was 1-0 with a 2.16 ERA. [6]
