Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Miller Diaz began his professional career in 2009 at 17 years old. He was signed by the New York Mets on February 13th of that year. The scouts were Ramon Pena, Ismael Cruz and Marciano Alvarez.

After a lackluster rookie season, Diaz went 4-4 with a 2.05 ERA in 14 games (nine starts) for the DSL Mets 2 in 2010. After a couple unremarkable campaigns, he went 7-3 with a 2.02 ERA in 13 games (12 starts) for the Brooklyn Cyclones in 2013, striking out 87 batters in 66 2/3 innings. He was the starting pitcher in the New York-Penn League All-Star Game. In 2014, he was 6-1 with a 2.25 ERA in 13 games (11 starts) for the Savannah Sand Gnats, K-ing 79 batters in 68 innings. He was a South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star that year. He began 2015 with the St. Lucie Mets and went 5-12, 4.71 in 23 games (21 starts), striking out 98 in 124 1/3 innings. On August 30th, he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks along with Matt Koch in return for major league reliever Addison Reed.
