Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Hart played 5 games for the Texas Rangers during the 1980 season, going 1 for 4. He was a minor league veteran, having played his first seven seasons in the Montreal Expos organization after having been drafted in the 11th round of the 1972 amateur draft. He was traded to the Rangers in return for Jim Mason following the 1978 season.
During the 1981 season with the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings Hart played in the longest game in organized baseball history. On April 18 in the 12th inning of a night road game against the Pawtucket Red Sox, Hart was a defensive replacement in right field. He came to the plate ten times in the next 20 innings of the game which was suspended after 32 innings. It was completed two months later in 33 innings.
He coached the Shreveport Captains in 1996-1997, before managing there in 1998. He was a coach at the AAA level from 1999 to 2005, including 1999 to 2002 with the Fresno Grizzlies, 2003 with the Rochester Red Wings, 2004 with the Edmonton Trappers and 2005 with the New Orleans Zephyrs. In 2006 he was a coach with the Harrisburg Senators in 2007 with the Savannah Sand Gnats and in 2008 with the St. Lucie Mets.
