Biographical Information[edit]

Mayker Sandoval played in the minors and for the Venezuela national baseball team.

Sandoval began his professional career with the Cincinnati Reds organization, hitting .250 for Cagua in the 2002 Venezuelan Summer League. He hit .237 for Cagua and .315/.373/.407 in 14 games for the GCL Reds in 2003. He batted .255/.332/.472 in 2004 and stole 17 bases in 21 tries, ranking third in the Gulf Coast League (behind Ovandy Suero and Pedro Powell. His five triples tied for second in the loop, two shy of Jamie Hoffmann. He recorded a .266/.318/.413 batting line for the Billings Mustangs in 59 games in 2005. He also played 26 games for the Dayton Dragons, but his slash line was .165/.276/.259. His six triples for Billings trailed only Chris McConnell and Eric Young Jr. in the Pioneer League. Sandoval left the Reds system after the '05 season. He represented Venezuela in the 2007 Baseball World Cup. Backing up former major leaguer Liu Rodríguez at 2B, he got a hit off Nils Hartkopf of Germany in his first at-bat. For the event, he was 2-for-7 with a run and a RBI, fielding .833;
