Biographical Information[edit]

Liu Rodríguez played one season in the major leagues with the Chicago White Sox as a 22-year-old middle infielder in 1999. He played in the minors from 1995-2001, was in Mexico in 2002 and 2005, and played independent ball through 2012. Rodriguez spent his last four seasons (2009-2012) with the York Revolution.

With the Langosteros de Cancun in 2005, he hit .331 and with the Newark Bears in 2006, he hit .318.

Rodríguez was on the Venezuelan national team in the 2007 Baseball World Cup and hit .286/.423/.429 as their second baseman. He was 3 for 8 with a double in the 2007 Pan American Games.

Rodriguez began his coaching career as a player/coach for York in 2012. He turned to full-time coaching in 2014 with the Milwaukee Brewers organization. He was a coach for the AZL Brewers in 2014 and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2015. Rodriguez spent the next three years as hitting coach of the Helena Brewers. He then managed the AZL Brewers Gold in 2019 and was slated to manage the Rocky Mountain Vibes in 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic shut down the minor league season. Rodriguez was a coach for the Carolina Mudcats in 2021, Wisconsin again in 2022, the Nashville Sounds in 2023, and Carolina again in 2024. He also coached for Venezuela in the 2019 Premier 12, 2021 Americas Olympic Qualifier and 2021 Final Olympic Qualifier.

Rodriguez also has some international coaching experience in the Venezuelan League. He was a coach for the Tiburones de La Guaira during the 2015/2016 season. After a year away, he returned as the team's third base coach in 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. Rodriguez switched teams in 2022/2023 and served as the third base coach for the Caribes de Anzoátegui that season.
