Biographical Information[edit]

OF Jamie Hoffmann was drafted by the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes in the 2003 NHL entry draft [1] in June 2003. Undrafted in baseball's 2003 amateur draft, he was signed by baseball scout Jeff Schugel for the Los Angeles Dodgers in August 2003. He made his pro debut the next summer with the GCL Dodgers.

Hoffmann made his major league debut with the Dodgers in 2009. On December 10th that year, he was the first overall selection in the 2009 Rule V Draft, taken by the Washington Nationals, who immediately sent him to the New York Yankees to complete an earlier trade that had brought relief pitcher Brian Bruney to the Nationals. However, he failed to make the Yankees' roster in spring training and was returned to the Dodgers. He made it back to the major leagues for two games in 2011, the last ones of his major league career.
