Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Ovandy Suero played in the minor leagues from 2002 to 2008 and also played briefly in three seasons of the Dominican Winter League. The speedster swiped 30 bags in 49 games for the GCL Braves in 2004 to league the Gulf Coast League in steals, then hit .300/.342/.433 with 46 steals in 60 games for the Danville Braves. He was an Appalachian League Post-Season All-Star that season, leading the league in stolen bases, outpacing second place Nathan Warrick by 25. In 2006, he had 53 steals in 116 games between two clubs, leading all Atlanta Braves farmhands in that category. In 2007, now in the Detroit Tigers system, he stole a career high 75 bags for the Lakeland Flying Tigers. He led the entire minor leagues in swipes. In 2008, with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals of the Kansas City Royals chain, he had 42 steals in 98 games to earn Texas League Mid-Season All-Star honors.

Overall, Suero hit .252/.302/.316 with 246 stolen bases in 439 games in the minor leagues stateside.
