Biographical Information[edit]
Marty Miller was a college coach for over 30 years.
Miller hit .380 as a sophomore, .438 as a junior and .406 as a senior in 1968, when he won All-American honors. He graduated the next year with a degree in mathematics. He became a second lieutenant in the US Army for the next several years. During that period, he was signed by the Minnesota Twins, but he never played professionally.
Miller came back to Norfolk State in 1972 as an assistant coach and he became head coach in 1973, holding the job until 2005, when Claudell Clark replaced him. Miller was 718-543-3 as head coach and was named Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Coach of the Year 15 times and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Coach of the Year once.
In December 2004, he became the athletics director at Norfolk State.
