Biographical Information[edit]

Márk Magas was on the first Hungarian national team in a European Championship, at the 2023 European Championship. He debuted against Sweden, relieving Zsolt Győri in the 6th with a 12-2 deficit, two on and no outs. He got Tommy Lindell to hit into a force, then retired both Joel Johnson and Jeff Pruitt. He finished with 2 1/3 innings on the day, three hits, a walk and three runs (two earned), striking out one (Lindell); Viktor Boda relieved. He had the best day of any Hungarian pitcher to face more than one batter in the 17-7 loss. His other outing, he took over for Ádám Piros with a 7-6 lead over Greece in the third but with the bases loaded and one out. He walked Tom Roulis to tie it but escaped further harm by striking out Peter Maestrales and retiring Dimitri Kourtis. He only retired one batter (a strikeout of Ari Sechopoulos) in the 4th, though, yielding four hits, a walk and four runs before Benedek Laffer came in to replace him. He took the loss to Jonathan Kountis. [1]
