Biographical Information

Kuo-Lin Kao has played in the CPBL. His uncle is former MLB pitcher Chin-Hui Tsao, and his brothers are CPBL players Kuo-Long Lo, Kuo-Hui Kao and Kuo-Hua Lo.

Kao represented Taiwan in the 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup, hitting .381/.500/.476. The EDA Rhinos drafted him in the eighth round of the 2015 CPBL Draft. Kao hit .284/.355/.514 in his rookie year, and he was selected into the 2016 CPBL All-Star Game; he was 0-for-2. He replaced Kai-Lun Chen and became the starting shortstop of the Fubon Guardians (the Rhinos changed their name) in 2017, and he hit .285/.362/.478 with 9 homers. He attended the 2017 CPBL All-Star Game, but he was 0-for-2 again.

When talented shortstop Tsung-Hsien Lee joined the team, the Guardians turned Kao into a third baseman. However, he struggled at third and he only hit .258/.351/.424 in 2018. He then became an outfielder, and Kao hit .288/.355/.584 in 2019. He and his brother Kuo-Hui Kao became the first pair of brothers to hit back-to-back homers in CPBL history on July 18, 2020, and he hit .287/.366/.503 with 16 homers.

Kao recorded a .324/.393/.476 batting line in 2021, but he slumped to .205/.255/.335 in 2022. He hit the second pinch-hit, walk-off grand slam on October 6 in this season, and coincidentally the first player to do it was his brother Kuo-Hui Kao. He bounced back a little in 2023, and he hit .246/.329/.346 with 2 homers.
