Biographical Information[edit]
Kojiro Yoshimura has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Yoshimura was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the first round of the 2022 NPB draft. He entered the rotation as a rookie, and had a 4-2 record with a 4.62 ERA in 12 starts.[1] Yoshimura then made it onto Japan's roster for the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He relieved Takahisa Hayakawa against Australia, and pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings with 2 strikeouts (against Jesse Williams and Aaron Whitefield). Yoshimura then relieved Kazuto Taguchi in the 10th inning against South Korea in the Gold Medal game. Two runners were on first and second due to tiebreaker rules, and he forced Do-yeong Kim to ground into a double play. Dong-hee Yoon's single still gave Korea the lead, and Si-hwan Roh added a single. Yoshimura retired Whee-jip Kim to end his work, and Japan won Gold thanks to Makoto Kadowaki's walk-off single; Yoshimura was the winning pitcher.[2]
Yoshimura's repertoire features a fastball that peaks at 95 mph, a slider and a forkball.[3]
