Biographical Information[edit]

Whee-jip Kim has played in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korean national team.

Kimwas selected by the Kiwoom Heroes in the first round of the 2021 KBO draft, and he hit .129/.279/.186 in 34 games in his rookie year. He struggled again in 2022 as he only hit .222/.326/.336, and he committed 15 errors at short. Kim crushed 8 homers in 2023, and he recorded a .249/.338/.374 batting line. He then represented South Korea in the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He pinch-hit for Seoung-bin Son in the 9th inning against Japan, and he blasted a solo shot against Kazuto Taguchi. Kim collected a 2-run single against Yen-Cheng Wang of Chinese Taipei, and he was 0-for-5 in the Gold Medal game versus Japan. South Korea lost due to Makoto Kadowaki's walk-off single. [1]

The Seoul native hit .233/.299/.379 with five homers in 51 games for the Heroes in 2024, then he was traded to the NC Dinos for the first- and third-round picks of the 2025 KBO draft. Kim crushed 11 more homers for NC, and his batting line improved to .276/.326/.430.
