Biographical Information

Kelvin Marianucci is a Dominican-Italian player who has appeared in the top leagues of both Italy and Spain.

After two years playing in the Dominican Republic, Marianucci hit .220/.280/.303 for Anzio as a OF-3B-P in 2002, going 2-4 with a 3.86 ERA and walking 28 in39 2/3 innings. He then took his game to Spain. In 2009 (the first season for which stats are available online as of 2012), he hit .395/.459/.519 with 30 runs in 34 games for San Inazio Bilbao. He was among the Division de Honor leaders in average (6th, between former minor leaguers Dirimo Chávez and Oscar Angulo), slugging (8th), OBP (7th, between José Luis Riera and Félix Isasi Jr.), runs (8th), hits (51, 3rd behind Chávez and Richard Montiel), doubles (tied for 5th at 11) and total bases (67, 7th, between Daniel Sánchez and Larry Infante).

Marianucci fell to .358/.432/.495 with 24 RBI in 31 games in 2010, fielding .906 in the outfield, and did not make the top 10 in any major offensive category. The veteran was back with a vengeance in 2011, batting .472/.532/.650 with 27 runs and 32 RBI in 32 games. He led the Division de Honor in average (.004 ahead of Angulo), was third in slugging (after Montiel and Jesús Golindano), was 4th in OBP (between Angulo and Juan Salazar), tied for second in hits (58, even with Angulo and one behind Adolfo Gonzalez), was 5th in RBI, tied for second with 13 doubles (one behind Montiel) and finished 4th in total bases (80).

In 2012, Kelvin put up a .385/.461/.608 line with 27 runs and 28 RBI in 34 games, while stealing 9 bases without being caught. He was among the league leaders in average (9th, between Marc Carrillo and Angulo), slugging (6th, between Montiel and Daniel Martinez), hits (50, tied for 7th with Carrillo), doubles (11, tied for 6th with Blake Ochoa and Javier José Flores), homers (6, tied for 5th with Montiel), steals (tied for 8th) and total bases (79, 5th, between Ochoa and Flores).

Marianucci played for the Spanish national team in the 2012 European Championship. He did very well in a backup role, going 5 for 11 with a double, run and two RBI, as Spain won the Bronze Medal. He came up empty against Nick Pugliese, pinch-hitting with a 4-3 deficit in the 9th, a man on third and two out against Italy. He came up as a pinch-hitter for Leo Hernández in the bottom of the 10th with a 5-5 tie and the bases loaded against the Czech national team; he was hit by a Martin Schneider pitch to force in the winning run.
