Leo Hernández has been a minor league catcher.
Hernández signed with the Toronto Blue Jays in April 2007; the scout was Rafael Moncada. In 2007, he hit .261/.326/.284 for the DSL Blue Jays 1. He moved to the DSL Blue Jays 2 the next year and produced at a .256/.305/.293 clip with 12 passed balls in 43 games. In 2009, he batted .292/.394/.392 for the DSL Blue Jays and threw out 49% of attempted base-stealers. Despite that season, he returned to the club in 2010 and fell to .207/.258/.248. He came stateside in 2011 with the Bluefield Blue Jays and hit .333/.337/.437 in a backup role. Hernández slumped in 2012, going just 5 for 48 (no extra-base hits) with a walk for the Vancouver Canadians.
That fall, Leo was a catcher for the Spanish national team in the 2012 European Championship.
