Kai-Noa Wynyard has pitched in the minor leagues and for the Australian national team.
His father Andrew was a professional rugby player. [1] Wynyard was mentored by Graeme Lloyd in Australia. [2] Wynyard represented Australia in the 2019 U-18 Baseball World Cup, allowing 3 hits, 3 walks and 6 runs in 1 1/3 IP. [3] He signed with the Texas Rangers in 2020, and he was 1-2 with a save and a 5.40 ERA for the ACL Rangers in 2021. His ERA was 4.86 with a 4-0 record in 7 games in the ACL in 2022, and he also went 0-2 with two saves and a 4.24 ERA for the Down East Wood Ducks.
Wynyard was 1-2 with a 2.38 ERA for the Wood Ducks in 2023, and he had a 5.84 ERA with the Brisbane Bandits in 2023-2024, going 1-2 again. He represented Australia in the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship, and he relieved Ky Hampton in the 4th inning against Chinese Taipei. Wynyard pitched a shutout inning with a strikeout against Cheng-Hua Yueh, and he also walked Heng-Yu Ho and gave up a single to Ching-Kai Lin. He then relieved Daniel McGrath in the 4th inning of the Bronze Medal game, and he recorded another shutout inning while walking Chin-Wei Lin Wu and Chih-Cheng Chiu; Australia lost to Chinese Taipei. [4] He opened '24 back with the Wood Ducks.
