Biographical Information[edit]
José Rojas was born and raised in Anaheim, CA and attended Anaheim High School. He then attended college starting at Fullerton College before moving down the freeway to nearby Vanguard University. From Vanguard, Rojas was selected in the 36th round (1086th overall) by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2016 amateur draft.
He started his professional career in Rookie ball for the Orem Owlz, where he posted a .308 average with 31 RBI. He began the 2017 season in High-A Inland Empire before being promoted to Double-A Mobile. In 2018, Rojas began with Mobile before being promoted to the Salt Lake City Bees, finishing the year with a combined .289 average with 71 RBI and 17 home runs. He began the 2019 season with Salt Lake City, where he was in the top 5 in the Pacific Coast League in six different offensive categories including a league-leading 107 RBI. Rojas did not play in 2020 due to the minor league cancellation due to COVID-19.
Rojas was selected to the Angels' 40-man roster on March 31, 2021, and making his debut as a pinch hitter for Max Stassi on April 2. Rojas recorded his first hit on April 14 against the Kansas City Royals. Rojas was recalled and sent down between Anaheim and Salt Lake through out the year. In 2022, Rojas again split time between the Angels and Salt Lake City. He was designated for assignment at the end of the 2022 season. The San Francisco Giants claimed Rojas off waivers on September 4th where he played 7 games for the Sacramento River Cats. He was again designated for assignment on September 16 and elected free agency two days later.
Rojas signed with the Doosan Bears of the KBO in October 2022. Rojas hit a walk-off three run home run in his first game for Doosan on April 1, 2023.
