Biographical Information[edit]
Ji-su Jang has pitched in the KBO and for the South Korean national team.
Jang was drafted by the KIA Tigers in the second round of the 2019 KBO draft, and he had a 7.71 ERA in 13 games in 2019. He then missed the next season due to military service, and he had a 3.14 ERA in 9 games in 2021. He mainly stayed in the minors in the next season, and he only got one appearance with the big club. The Tigers then traded him with Seung-hyeok Han to the Hanwha Eagles for Woo-hyuk Byun, and he only pitched a game with the big club again in 2023.[1]
The Seoul native then made South Korea's young club for the 2023 Asian Championship. He started against Hong Kong, and he pitched 3 shutout innings with 4 strikeouts. He then started again versus the Philippines, and he shut them out in the first three innings. However, he allowed a leadoff double to Kyle Soberano in the 4th inning, Erwin Bosito added a single and Adriane Ros Bernardo drove in a run with another single. Mark Manaig then completed a sacrifice bunt, and Heon-min Shin took over. Shin allowed another run, and it was charged with Jang. In the Bronze Medal Game, South Korea again beat the Philippines, this time with a 7-0 score. [2]
Jang struggled again in 2024, and he allowed 18 runs in 14 innings with the big club.
