Biographical Information[edit]

Jhonny Caraballo pitched for four seasons in the minor leagues.

Caraballo split 2004 between the DSL Dodgers 1 (1-2, 7.53) and DSL Dodgers 2 (11 R, 15 H, 5 BB in 8 1/3 IP). The Los Angeles Dodgers fielded one combined outfit, the DSL Dodgers, in 2005 and the 19-year-old was 1-0 with two saves and a 1.04 ERA. In 2006, he went 4-1 with five saves and a 2.02 ERA for the DSL Dodgers. He had his lone stateside season in 2007, going 2-3 with 10 saves and a 4.43 ERA for the Ogden Raptors; he led the Pioneer League in saves. Despite that league-leading performance, it was his last stint in the minors.

Caraballo was 1-0 with a 3.48 ERA in five games with the Venezuelan national team for the 2011 Baseball World Cup. He got a win over South Korea. Only Luis Azócar had a better ERA for Venezuela (team ERA of 7.91 entering the 7th/8th place game, which did not count in official stats) and Jhonny led the team's qualifiers. He tied George Delgado for second on the club in appearances, one behind Gabriel Alfaro. Things turned out much worse in the 2011 Pan American Games as he gave up four hits and 3 runs in 2 1/3 IP; only Alfaro had a worse ERA for Venezuela.

In the 2013 Bolivarian Games, he worked 1 2/3 shutout innings for the Silver Medalists. He blanked Nicaragua for six innings in the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games (4 H, 3 BB); Josmar Carreño got the save. He was fourth in the event in innings pitched without allowing a run; only Carreño, Samuel Ruiz and J.C. Ramirez were better.
