Biographical Information[edit]

Jhonleider Salinas has pitched in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.

He was signed by Cleveland Indians scouts Ramon Pena and Felix Nivar. [1] He was 2-2 with a 2.60 ERA for the DSL Indians with 13 hits and 40 walks in 40 2/3 IP. He walked three and allowed one run in 1 2/3 IP for the Caribes de Anzoátegui in the Venezuelan Winter League. He started 2016 with the AZL Indians (3-2, 3.30) and was then traded with Nathan Lukes for Brandon Guyer. He finished the year with the GCL Rays (1-0, 1.93).

Salinas was 3-1 with a 3.49 ERA for the 2017 Hudson Valley Renegades, fanning 63 in 56 2/3 IP. He followed with a 4.35 ERA for the Caribes. In '18, he was with the Charlotte Stone Crabs (0-1, Sv, 5.73 in 5 G) and Bowling Green Hot Rods (3-2, 5 Sv, 2.70 in 28 G). He allowed 49 hits in 71 innings but walked 45. He allowed five runs in 5 2/3 IP for the Caribes in 2018-2019.

The tall right-hander split 2019 between the Stone Crabs (3-3, Sv, 3.75 in 19 G) and Montgomery Biscuits (4-2, Sv, 2.70 in 23 G). He tied Chandler Raiden and Dalton Moats for 4th in the Rays' chain in games pitched (42). He then was with Venezuela for the 2019 Premier 12. He pitched one game, closing out a 7-1 win over Puerto Rico. Relieving Andrés Sotillet in the 9th, he struck out Anthony García and Danny Ortiz. Edwin Gomez singled then Kevin Torres grounded out to end it. [2]
