Biographical Information[edit]
Quebec native Jessica Bérubé traveled with Canada to Cuba in early 2010 to play against the Cuban womens' team. She then made Canada's roster for the 2010 Women's Baseball World Cup, one of two newcomers to the team (Shayla Sashavar was the other). At 6' 2", the pitcher was the club's tallest player by a good four inches.
She was excellent in the 2012 Women's Baseball World Cup, going 2-0 with a 2.10 ERA. Her wins came against tough competition - eventual Silver Medalist USA and #4 finisher Australia as Canada won the Bronze. She tied Yexelis Nagua, Kristin Caldwell, Stacy Piagno and Mika Konishi for second in the Cup in wins, one behind Yukari Isozaki. She was also 7th in ERA, between Kim McMillan and Caldwell.
The right-hander was given the toughest call for Canada in the 2015 Pan American Games, the first Pan American Games to feature women's baseball, facing the US. She shut them out for three frames but lost a 3-1 duel to Marti Sementelli. She was 0-1 with a 2.00 ERA for the Games with a team-high 8 whiffs in 7 innings. She was 7th in ERA (between Piagno and Maria Zayas) and tied Sarah Hudek for second in whiffs, two shy of Piagno.
