Biographical Information[edit]
Jeong-hwan Seo played in the KBO for 8 years.
Seo joined the Samsung Lions when the KBO was founded in 1982, and he hit .202/.237/.274 in 50 games that season. He was then traded to the Haitai Tigers for 15 million won, and he had a .257/.320/.339 batting line in 1983. Seo hit .250/.318/.330 in 1984, then he had a .275/.346/.334 batting line in 1985. He collected 47 steals with a .256/.335/.317 batting line in 1986, and he led the league in steals. He hit .278/.358/.358 in 1987, and he recorded a .323/.384/.367 batting line in 1988. Seo was 4th in batting that season, between Sung-han Kim and Min-ho Kim. He only played 65 games with a .258/.351/.356 batting line in 1989, then he announced his retirement.
The Tigers named him their baserunning coach from 1990 to 1994, and he was the fielding coach for the Lions from 1996 to 1997. He became Samsung's manager in 1998 (going 66-58-2), and he was fired after the 1999 season despite a solid 73-57 record. Seo returned to the Tigers as their fielding coach from 2001 to 2002, and he managed their minor league team in 2003. Seo was named the manager of the Tigers in 2004 after Nam-ho Yoo resigned, but he was fired after the Tigers finished 8th in 2007; they had also been last in 2005 but were 64-59-3 and made the playoffs in 2006.
Overall, Seo hit .268/.338/.337 with 609 hits and 22 homers in 8 seasons in the KBO.
