Biographical Information[edit]
Jae-woo Baek hit .319/.373/.489 as the starting center fielder for the South Korean national team in the 1988 Baseball World Cup, with 6 runs and 6 RBI in 11 games. He fielded .938. Only Dae-yeon Hwang had more runs for South Korea and his five extra-base hits were second on the team to Young-soo Kang. He had previously won Silver in the 1985 Intercontinental Cup and the 1986 Amateur World Series and Bronze in the 1987 Asian Championship and played in the 1987 Intercontinental Cup. He hit .227 as the team's leadoff man and center fielder in the 1988 Olympics. He won Gold in the 1989 Asian Championship, hit .259/.375/.333 with 3 steals in 3 tries and had 17 putouts and no errors as their center fielder in the 1990 Baseball World Cup and Silver in the 1990 Asian Games. He was 1 for 3 with a RBI for the Silver Medalists in the 1994 Baseball World Cup, backing up Jae-gul Kim and Pil-sun Kang at 2B.
