Gyoung-wan Lim pitched in the KBO for 16 years.
Lim was drafted by the Lotte Giants in the first round of the 1998 KBO draft, and he had a 18.62 ERA in 7 games in his first season. He only pitched 4 games in 1999, then he recorded a 3.86 ERA in 15 games in 2000. Lim was 3-1 with a 4.35 ERA and 5 holds in 2001, and his ERA was 6.29 in 25 games in 2002. He had a 3-14 record with a 4.71 ERA and 11 saves in 2003, and he led the league in losses (tied with Jong-seok Yeom). He was also 8th in saves, between Kang-chul Lee and Len Picota.
The Busan native improved to a 3.16 ERA in 67 appearances in 2004, and he led the league with 22 holds. He then missed the next two seasons due to military service, and he notched 6 holds with a 7-1 record and a 3.25 ERA in 65 games in 2007 after returning. He collected 7 saves with a 4.19 ERA in 38 relief outings in 2008, then he was 4-1 with a 2.45 ERA in 43 games in 2009. Lim got 7 saves with a 3.30 ERA in 2010, then he collected 18 holds with a 3.15 ERA in 72 games in 2011. He was 5th in holds (tied with Sang-yeul Lee) and 2nd in appearances (5 behind Lee). He then announced that he would become a free agent, and the SK Wyverns signed him with a 3-year, 1.1 billion won contract.
Lim's ERA was 5.40 in 32 games in 2012, and he struggled again in 2013 as his ERA was 5.71 in 23 games in 2014. He only pitched 16 games with a 5.40 ERA in 2015, and the Wyverns released him. He signed with the Hanwha Eagles, but he mainly stayed in the minors and he was released after the 2015 season. Lim then joined the Sydney Blue Sox of the Australian Baseball League, and his ERA was 5.40 n 17 games in 2015-2016. He pitched 15 games with a 1.88 ERA in 2016-2017, then he announced his retirement. He was the pitching coach for the Giants in 2019 and for their minor league team in 2020. Lim then became their bullpen coach from 2021 to 2022, and he was named their minor league pitching coach in 2023.
Overall, Lim was 30-46 with a 4.18 ERA, collected 69 holds and 33 saves in 555 appearances, struck out 406 and pitched 704 1/3 innings in 16 seasons in the KBO.
