Team History[edit]
In 2017, the Brevard County Manatees moved to Kissimmee, FL and became the Florida Fire Frogs. The Manatees had been a Milwaukee Brewers affiliate, but the Fire Frogs replaced the Carolina Mudcats as the Advanced Class A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. After two seasons in Kissimmee, they were forced to find another home as Osceola County Stadium was transformed into a soccer stadium. They found a temporary home at brand new CoolToday Park in North Port, FL, but this was only a one-year solution, as the ballpark infringed on the territorial rights of the Charlotte Stone Crabs, based in nearby Port Charlotte, FL. The team had also been identified as one of those to be eliminated after the season as part of a major reorganization of Minor League Baseball, so the team's future looked very dim. And indeed the team lost its affiliation in the minor league re-structuring after the 2020 season and was dissolved.
