Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Juan Lopez played six seasons in the minors in the Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros, and San Francisco Giants organizations, briefly reaching the AAA level.

Lopez was a coach for the AZL Giants (1991-1993), Everett Giants (1994), Bellingham Giants (1995), Phoenix Firebirds (1995), and Burlington (IA) Bees (1996). He was the bullpen catcher for the Giants in 1997-1998, was the Giants bullpen coach from 1999 to 2002 and served in the same capacity with the Chicago Cubs from 2003 to 2006. Lopez managed the GCL Mets in 2007 and joined the Cincinnati Reds as bullpen coach in 2008, reuniting with Dusty Baker. Lopez was bench coach of the Florida Fire Frogs in 2019. He was scheduled to return to Florida in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to Covid-19.

Lopez' son, Jack Lopez, made his pro debut in the Kansas City Royals' chain in 2012.
