Biographical Information[edit]
The Cincinnati Reds drafted Doug DeVore in the 35th round of the 1996 Amateur Draft, but he opted to attend college instead. Three years later the Arizona Diamondbacks drafted him in the 12th round of the 1999 Amateur Draft from Indiana University. DeVore gradually ascended through the D'Backs minor league system and made his major league debut on May 6, 2004. He played in 50 games that season and hit .224/.272/.374. Defensively, he split his time between left field and right field though he did get one inning in center field. Devore finished his playing career in 2005 in the San Francisco Giants organization after a June trade from the D'Backs.
In 2019 the Atlanta Braves hired DeVore to coach hitters for the Florida Fire Frogs. This position did not last long as DeVore left the Fire Frogs on April 20th by mutual agreement.
