Biographical Information

Pitcher Everett Teaford reached the majors with the Kansas City Royals in 2011.

Teaford was originally drafted by the Royals in the 12th round of the 2006 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Spencer Graham and began his professional career that season. He played for the Idaho Falls Chukars in 2006, going 5-1 with a 3.71 ERA in 15 games (12 starts). He pitched for the Burlington Bees in 2007, posting a 6-8 record with a 4.68 ERA in 27 games (21 starts). In 2008, he pitched for the Wilmington Blue Rocks and went 8-6 with a 3.80 ERA in 28 games (23 starts).

Teaford split 2009 between the Blue Rocks and Northwest Arkansas Naturals, going 10-8 with a 3.91 ERA in 27 starts. In 2010, he went 14-4 with a 3.82 ERA in 28 games (13 starts) for the Naturals and Omaha Royals. He led Royals minor leaguers in victories. In the 2010 Pan American Games Qualifying Tournament, he started Team USA wins over both Aruba and Venezuela; he helped the US get a spot in the 2011 Pan American Games.

After starting 2011 with Omaha (2-1, 3.04, 16 H in 26 2/3 IP), he was recalled by the Royals in May to replace Vin Mazzaro on the roster. Teaford made his big league debut on May 17th, allowing one earned run in an inning and a third against the Cleveland Indians. Relieving Sean O'Sullivan with a 6-1 deficit in the 6th, he went 1-2-3 against Matt LaPorta, Jack Hannahan and Michael Brantley. In the 7th, though, he gave up a leadoff homer to Asdrubal Cabrera, then walked Shin-soo Choo and allowed a Carlos Santana single. Travis Hafner hit into a force, then Louis Coleman relieved.

In 2018, he was named as quality insurance coach for the Chicago White Sox. He was then the White Sox minor league pitching coordinator from 2020-2023. Teaford became pitching coach of Auburn University for 2024.
