Biographical Information[edit]

Ethan Elias pitched in the minors and was on Team Canada.

Elias was on Canada's junior national team in 2011, but there were no major tournaments that year. [1] The Chicago Cubs took him in the 22nd round of the 2011 amateur draft, one round after they took Andrew McKirahan and round before Bradley Zimmer. The scout was Matt Sherman. [2] He was 1-2 with a 3.90 ERA in 13 games (4 starts) for the AZL Cubs in 2012. He split '13 between the AZL Cubs (2-1, 5.71 in 9 G) and the Boise Hawks (1-0, 2.13 in 6 G).

Out of the Cubs chain, he signed with the independent Normal Cornbelters for 2014 and had a 1-2, 4.47 record with one save, fanning 66 in 58 1/3 IP. The Arizona Diamondbacks gave him a shot and he was 11-6 with a 3.19 ERA for the 2015 Kane County Cougars. He tied for 7th in the Midwest League in ERA. He tied for third in the D'backs chain in wins, two behind Aaron Blair and Johnny Omahen. He split '16 between the Visalia Rawhide (5-4, 5.53 in 15 G0, Hillsboro Hops (5 R in 3 IP) and AZL Diamondbacks (1-0, 2 R in 3 2/3 IP).

The right-hander was back in the indies in 2017, pitching for the Rockland Boulders and Trois-Rivières Aigles, going 1-2 with a 4.16 ERA in 32 games. He was 4-9 with a save and a 4.02 ERA for the 2018 Aigles, tying Steve Borkowski for second in the Canadian-American Association in losses. He finished his pro career at 27-26, 4.19.
