Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Andrew McKirahan injured his elbow in his first appearance of spring training on March 2, 2016 and had to undergo Tommy John surgery, missing the entire season. He had already undergone the procedure in 2012. he had made his major league debut with the Atlanta Braves early in the 2015 season, and in 27 games, had gone 1-0 with a 5.93 ERA, giving up 40 hits and 10 walks in 27 1/3 innings. That season, he was also suspended for 80 games for violating MLB's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Before he could return to the Braves, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds on February 13, 2017, along with Carlos Portuondo in return for veteran 2B Brandon Phillips.
