Biographical Information[edit]
Eric Eymann played professionally from 2005 to 2011. He reached AAA in 2009.
Eymann helped Creighton Prep finish third in the nation his junior year in high school. His senior year, they took the Nebraska state title after he hit .482/.508/.800 and made All-State. As a college freshman, he hit .359/.389/.530, finishing 9th in the Big Ten Conference in average. He fell to .290/.338/.424 as a sophomore.
Transferring to Kansas State, Eric hit .303/.358/.460. He was then selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 19th round of the 2005 amateur draft.
He spent the majority of that summer with the Billings Mustangs, hitting .239/.317/.389 with 3 home runs and 12 RBI in 34 games. He was also 1 for 3 for the GCL Reds. With the Dayton Dragons the following year, he hit .238/.302/.355 with 29 doubles, 51 runs scored, and 41 RBIs in 119 games. He led the team in games played at both shortstop (68) and third base (55).
He spent 2007 with the Sarasota Reds and hit .246/.286/.369 with 8 homers and 53 RBI in 130 games and clubbed two home runs in a game against the Clearwater Threshers on May 19th. He began the year at shortstop but was bumped to third when Chris Valaika joined the club. Eymann showed poor plate discipline with 23 walks to 103 strikeouts.
He was with the Chattanooga Lookouts in 2008 and hit .299/.342/.436 with 31 doubles, 8 home runs and 71 RBIs for the club; in a May 18th contest against the Mississippi Braves he drove in eight runs. Eymann again was a shortstop while Valaike was at a lower level, then moved to the hot corner when Valaika joined the Lookouts.
Eymann split the 2009 season between the AA Carolina Mudcats (.234/.308/.302 in 74 G) and the AAA Louisville Bats (.176/.235/.300 in 33 G). He played at least 10 games at each infield position in a utility role that season.
