Biographical Information[edit]

Drew Bailey pitched in the minors then became a college coach.

He set the Concord University record with 11 saves. [1] The Oakland Athletics took him in the 35th round of the 2010 amateur draft, one pick before Danny Barnes. The scout was Marcus Cayenne. [2] He had a 4.38 ERA in 7 games for the AZL Athletics that summer, walking 11 in 12 1/3 IP.

In 2011, he was 5-0 with a 2.34 ERA for the Vermont Lake Monsters. He tied for 9th in the New York-Penn League in wins and tied Ryan Cole, Jeremy Gould and Steve Winnick for 6th in appearances. Despite that fine season, his time in the A's chain ended and he moved to the indy leagues. He split 2012 between the Kansas City T-Bones (0-1, 2.81 in 13 G) and El Paso Diablos (10 R, 5 ER in 4 IP). In 2013, he was 0-2 with a 11.37 ERA in four games for the Southern Illinois Miners. He had gone 5-3 with a 3.09 ERA in 52 games as a pro. He allowed only 68 hits in 81 IP but walked 56.

Bailey was then assistant coach at Concord and at Bluefield State College. He was head coach of Averett University in 2018. He was head coach of softball at Bluefield State in 2019-2020 then became head coach of their baseball team. [3]
