Biographical Information

Dedgar Jiménez has been as high as AAA and has been on the Venezuelan national team.

Jiménez was signed by Boston Red Sox scout Angel Escobar. He was 4-3 with a 1.50 ERA for the 2013 DSL Red Sox, walking only 9 in 60 innings. He was 7th in the Dominican Summer League in ERA, between Ariel Gracia and Wendell Floranus and 4th in WHIP (0.90, between Jose Regalado and Richelson Pena).

Coming stateside in '14, he went 5-2 with a 3.28 ERA for the GCL Red Sox, walking 8 in 49 1/3 innings. He tied Gean Batista, Jhon Morban and Alexis Tapia for 4th in the Gulf Coast League in wins. In 2015, he was 9-9 with a 4.43 ERA for the Greenville Drive, walking 21 in 126 innings. He allowed 160 hits, though, most in the South Atlantic League by one over Alex McRae. He tied for 4th in the Red Sox chain in wins.

The big lefty split 2016 between the Salem Red Sox (2-3, 6.35 in 9 G) and Greenville (6-7, 4.73). He tied Justin Haley for the most losses in the Boston farm system and was 2nd with 175 hits allowed. He allowed one run in 4 1/3 IP that winter for the Navegantes del Magallanes, in his Venezuelan League debut.

He turned things around in 2017, cutting the hits surrendered to 142. He was 15-3 between Salem (10-3, 3.07) and the Portland Sea Dogs (5-0, 2.91). He won the most games of any Boston minor leaguer, 3 ahead of runner-up Daniel Gonzalez, and was 5th with 118 K (between Henry Owens and Darwinzon Hernandez). Among all affiliated minor leaguers, he tied for 2nd in wins (with Aaron Slegers, Yefry Ramirez, Foster Griffin and Chance Adams), four shy of Zack Littell. That winter, he was 1-1 with a 4.66 ERA for Magallanes.

In '18, he was with Portland (10-7, 4.39) and the Pawtucket Red Sox (1-0, 3.00 in 1 G). He was one win shy of Denyi Reyes for the most victories in the Red Sox farm. He tied Beau Barrows, Mickey Jannis and Brian Keller for 5th in the Eastern League in wins. The next year, he was back with Portland (4-5, 10 Sv, 3.78) and Pawtucket (0-1, 14.09 in 2 G). He tied Logan Browning and Kris Jackson for 3rd in the system in saves.

He was a late addition to Venezuela's squad for the 2019 Premier 12. He made one appearance, against Puerto Rico. Relieving Williams Pérez in the 6th with a 5-0 lead, he retired Luis Mateo and Ozzie Martínez. Iván de Jesús Jr. singled then Dedgar got Jeffrey Domínguez to end the inning. In the 7th, now with a 7-0 lead, he started by walking Yariel González and Anthony García. He fanned Danny Ortiz but Edwin Gomez singled to end the shutout. After he retired Kevin Torres, Andrés Sotillet took over.
