Biographical Information[edit]

Yariel González has played as high as AAA and has been on the Puerto Rican national team.

The Puerto Rican played for two Oklahoma colleges before being signed by the St. Louis Cardinals as an undrafted free agent. He split the summer of 2016 between the Johnson City Cardinals (.308/.353/.462 in 19 G) and State College Spikes (.260/.337/.312 in 22 G). In winter ball, he hit .275/.316/.349 for the Tiburones de Aguadilla. He batted .305/.357/.390 with 42 RBI in 56 games for the 2017 Spikes. He was 4th in the New York-Penn League in average, between Nolan Jones and Trevor Craport and led in RBI, 5 ahead of runner-up Tristan Gray. He hit .192/.271/.250 for the Indios de Mayagüez in his hometown in the winter.

In 2018, he again topped .300, this time with the Peoria Chiefs at .311/.357/.458. He played all four infield slots as well as the corner outfield spots. He was 3rd in the Midwest League in average (after Elehuris Montero and Vidal Brujan), 10th in OBP, 8th in slugging (between Jose Vicente and Chavez Young) and 10th in OPS (between Taylor Walls and Young). He was named to the MWL All-Star team at 1B. [1] He had a good winter at .293/.323/.378 for the Indios and was named Comeback Player of the Year. [2] He was 8th in the Puerto Rican League in average and second in RBI, one behind David Vidal. He was 0 for 4 with a walk for the Cangrejeros de Santurce as a reinforcement for the 2019 Caribbean Series.

González split 2019 between the Palm Beach Cardinals (.260/.312/.321 in 57 G), Springfield Cardinals (.274/.329/.474 in 56 G) and Memphis Redbirds (.136/.240/.545 in 7 G). He hit 15 homers and drove in 72 runs. He tied Randy Arozarena and Nolan Gorman for 5th in the Cards chain in dingers and 4th in RBI, between John Nogowski and Dylan Carlson. He was then Puerto Rico's main DH in the 2019 Premier 12. He was 1 for 6 with a walk, with his hit coming off Williams Pérez of Venezuela. [3]
