Biographical Information[edit]

David Reyes has pitched as high as AAA and for the Mexican national team.

Reyes debuted in 2011 with the Diablos Rojos del México and Guerreros de Oaxaca, going a combined 3-0 with a 4.62 ERA. He made his Mexican Pacific League debut that winter, posting a 0-1, 4.33 record for the Yaquis de Obregón. He was 3-1 with a save and a 5.53 ERA in 30 games for the Diablos Rojos. In 2012-2013, he was 4-1 with a 2.49 ERA for the Yaquis. He allowed one hit in 5 2/3 shutout innings in the 2013 Caribbean Series, fanning seven and walking none. He was named the All-Star middle reliever. [1]

David was a regular of the Diablos Rojos rotation in 2013, going 9-2 with a 4.70 ERA and walking only 29 in 111 innings. He tied for ninth in the Mexican League in victories. That winter, he was 5-3 with a 4.54 ERA for the Yaquis, tied for ninth in the Mexican Pacific League in wins as well. He fell to 3-3, 6.12 for the 2014 Diablos Rojos and did not pitch in the winter. He rebounded to 10-6, 3.72 in 2015, walking 23 in 118 2/3 innings. He tied Michael Nix and Marco Tovar for 7th in victories. He was 6-3, 4.53 in winter ball, tied for fourth in wins.

In 2016, he was 12-5 with a 3.92 ERA. He was 4th in wins, trailing only Yoanner Negrin, Mauricio Lara and Josh Lowey. He fell to 2-5, 5.61 that winter. He tied for sixth in losses. He was 10-7 with a 4.66 ERA for the 2017 Diablos Rojos. He tied Pablo Ortega and Carlos Hernandez for tenth in wins. In the winter, he was 5-1 with a 2.97 ERA for the Yaquis. He tied for ninth in wins. The LMB went to a two-season format in 2018. He was 4-4 with a 6.96 ERA in the spring season and 1-2, 3.52 with a save in the fall, moving to the bullpen regularly for the first time in years.

He then represented Mexico in the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games. He allowed four hits, a walk and a run while only retiring one batter to tie Nathanael Santiago, Leyson Séptimo, Abdiel Velasquez and Héctor Mayora for the highest ERA in the Games. [2] That winter, he was 1-7 for the Águilas de Mexicali (following a trade for Walter Ibarra. [3]) despite a 3.25 ERA. He was 6th in ERA (between William Oliver and Javier Solano), tied Alejandro Soto for the most losses and tied Elián Leyva for the most strikeouts (67). [4]

The right-hander slumped to 6-8, 7.61 for the 2019 Diablos Rojos. He rebounded in the winter at 5-1, 3.68 for Mexicali. He tied for 7th in the LMP in wins. The 2020 minor league season was canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020-2021, he had a 4-5, 3.12 record for Mexicali. He tied for 9th in wins and tied for 5th in losses. He was 3-5 with a 5.55 ERA for the Rojos del Águila de Veracruz in '21. In the winter, he was 6-4 with a 3.18 ERA for Mexicali, walking only 13 in 76 1/3 IP. He was 5th in the LMP in ERA (between Ryan Verdugo and Miguel Pena) and tied for second in wins (one behind Leyva). [5]
