Biographical Information[edit]

Javier Solano has pitched as high as AAA.

Solano was signed by Los Angeles Dodgers scout Mike Brito. He made his pro debut with the Ogden Raptors in 2008 and had a rough intro (2-3, 9.47 ERA, 1.95 WHIP in 18 G). With the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in winter ball, he allowed two runs and three baserunners while retiring only one. Back with Ogden in 2009, he showed good progress (2-0, Sv, 4.64 ERA, 1.55 WHIP in 16 G) though he had another rough winter with Hermosillo (3 R in 1 IP). He split the summer of 2010 between the Inland Empire 66ers (1-1, 3.22 in 22 G) and Chattanooga Lookouts (2-0, 2.29 in 13 G), walking only 13 in 64 1/3 IP. He had a 4.26 ERA in 11 games for the Naranjeros in 2010-2011.

In 2011, Javier pitched for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (2-3, 3 Sv, 4.09 in 26 G) and Lookouts (1-0, Sv, 3.03 in 19 G), tying Pete Budkevics for 7th in the Dodgers chain in games pitched. With Hermosillo in the winter, he was 4-2 with a 4.57 ERA in 29 outings. He went 3-0 with a 2.73 ERA in 38 games for the 2012 Lookouts but had a rough winter (6.89 ERA in 11 G). Let go by LA, he was 4-1 with a 2.57 ERA in 37 games for the 2013 Sultanes de Monterrey. He had an excellent winter with the Águilas de Mexicali (5-2, 2.28). He tied for 9th in the Mexican Pacific League in wins and was third in ERA (behind Amauri Sanit and Hector Velazquez).

With Monterrey in 2014, he was 5-7 with a 5.51 ERA. He was 8-2 with a 2.39 ERA for Mexicali in 2014-2015, finishing second in the LMP in wins (one behind Amilcar Gaxiola). He had a 6-7, 5.44 record for the 2015 Sultanes. His winter line was almost an exact repeat of the prior campaign at 8-3, 3.33. This time, he led the league in wins (one ahead of Walter Silva and Daniel Rodriguez) and strikeouts (71, 6 ahead of Nate Reed).

He was on the Mexican national team for the 2016 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, part of a dominant staff that allowed two runs in three games. He pitched in the finale against Nicaragua, relieving Carlos Bustamante in the 5th with a 6-0 lead. He threw two shutout innings, allowing two hits and fanning one, before Arturo Barradas took over in a 12-1 win as Mexico advanced to the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

He had a strong summer with Monterrey at 10-4, 3.25. He tied Barry Enright, Jose Oyervides and Edgar Gonzalez for 7th in the Mexican League in wins.
