Biogaphical Information[edit]
Amaury Sanit pitched for seven seasons in Cuba. He went 25-25 with 58 saves and a 4.11 ERA in 226 games. He was third all-time in the Cuban Serie Nacional in saves behind Euclides Rojas and Orestes González through 2003-2004. Sanit led the league in games pitched (39) in 1998-1999.
Amaury left Cuba in 2003. In 2008, he signed with the New York Yankees. He tossed two shutout innings for the DSL Yankees that year, saving a game, and had a 5.19 ERA in 7 relief stints for the Licey Tigers of the Dominican League that winter.
In 2009, Sanit pitched for three Yankees farm teams - the Tampa Yankees (0 R, 6 IP), the Trenton Thunder (1-2, 10 Sv, 2.95, 13 H in 21 IP) and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (0-3, 4.12 in 19 G).
In 2010, Sanit was suspended for 50 games for failing a PED test. When he did pitch, he was hit hard, putting up a 7.75 ERA in 33 2/3 innings, during which he gave up 47 hits. He was back with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre the next season, putting up a 4.96 ERA over his first 16 1/3 innings. He then replaced Ramiro Pena on the Yankee roster to give them more pitching depth. He made his major league debut with the Yankees on May 12, 2011, coming in relief of starter Ivan Nova with the Yanks down 8-0 to the Kansas City Royals in the 4th inning. He managed to stop the bleeding and pitched into the 8th inning, although he tired at the end and gave up 3 runs altogether in his 4 2/3 innings of work. Still, his effort gave the Yankees' bullpen a much-needed respite.
