The DSL Cubs 2, along with the DSL Cubs 1, have been one of the two Dominican Summer League affiliates of the Chicago Cubs since 2008 (they had previously only fielded one DSL Cubs club). The Cubs went back to having just one DSL team, the DSL Cubs, in 2013 as the DSL Cubs 2 were replaced by the VSL Cubs.
