Biographical Information[edit]
Jose Cueto pitched in the minor leagues from 1999-2004. He pitched mostly in the Chicago Cubs system except for 2002-2003 when he joined the Florida Marlins organization. He spent his last three seasons at the AA level. Overall Cueto had a 16-29 record with an ERA of 4.16. He also picked up two saves in his career. Cueto finished his playing career in 2006 with the Bologna baseball team in Italy.
Following his playing career, Cueto was a coach for the DSL Cubs in 2015. He spent the next four years as a pitching coach for the DSL Cubs 1 and DSL Cubs 2. Cueto was scheduled to return to the latter team in 2020 before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the minor league season.
Cueto transferred to the Pittsburgh Pirates organization as a pitching coach for the DSL Pirates Black in 2021 and DSL Pirates Gold in 2022-2024.
