Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Colin Poche was picked by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 14th round of the 2016 amateur draft, out of Dallas Baptist University. He started off his professional career that year with the Hillsboro Hops of the Northwest League where he was 1-2, 3.19 in 21 games. In 2017, he split his time between the Kane County Cougars and Visalia Rawhide going a combined 3-1, 1.25 in 31 appearances, all in relief. He then started the 2018 season in AA with the Jackson Generals, giving up no runs in 11 innings over his first 9 appearances.
On May 1, 2018, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays as a player to be named later, alongside Sam McWilliams, to complete a spring training trade that had seen fellow prospects Anthony Banda and Nick Solak in return for OF Steven Souza. He made his major league debut with the Rays a little over a year later, on June 8, 2019, as he was called up for a doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox under the 26th man rule. He pitched 1 1/3 inning in relief in the second game, giving up 2 runs, and was charged with his team's 5-1 loss.
