Biographical Information

First baseman Clint Robinson reached the majors with the Kansas City Royals in 2012.

Attending Troy University, Robinson hit .364 with a team-leading 17 home runs and 71 RBI as a senior. He was then selected by the Royals in the 25th round of the 2007 amateur draft. Robinson was signed by scout Max Semler and made his pro debut that summer with the Idaho Falls Chukars, hitting .336 with 15 homers and 66 RBI. With the Burlington Bees the following summer, he hit .264 with 17 home runs, and he posted a .298 average along with 13 homers for the Wilmington Blue Rocks in 2009.

Playing for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in 2010, Robinson won the Texas League Triple Crown, batting .335 with 29 home runs and 98 RBI. He claimed just the third Triple Crown in league history, following Del Pratt (1927) and Adam Piatt (1999). However, he was not the circuit's MVP, as teammate Mike Moustakas put up even more impressive numbers - including a .347 batting average - before being promoted to AAA after 66 games.

Robinson moved up to the Omaha Storm Chasers in 2011 and hit .326 with 23 home runs and 100 RBI while being named a Pacific Coast League All-Star. After hitting .314 with 8 homers in 60 games with Omaha to start 2012, he was called up to the bigs in early June when Ryan Verdugo was sent down. He made his big league debut against the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 8th, entering the game as a pinch hitter with two outs in the top of the ninth and striking out facing Joel Hanrahan to end the game.

On May 12, 2015, Robinson became the first position player in Washington Nationals history to pitch in a game, getting a scoreless inning in mop-up relief in a 14-6 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. He received significant playing time in the majors for the first time of his career when 1B Ryan Zimmerman went on the disabled list in June and he took over for him. In 126 games, he hit .272 with 15 doubles, 10 homers and 34 RBIs. He split his playing time between first base, left field and right field.

On May 9, 2016, he hit a walk-off home run as a pinch-hitter against Mark Lowe of the Detroit Tigers, giving Washington a 5-4 win. The game was notable because teammate Bryce Harper was ejected by umpire Brian Knight just before Clint's big shot, for arguing from the dugout, then joined in on the on-field celebrations, earning a further one-game suspension.
