Biographical Information[edit]

In 1999 Adam Piatt hit .345 with 39 homers and 135 RBI to capture the Texas League Triple Crown. He was only the second Triple Crown winner in league history, following Del Pratt by 72 years. He helped the US win Bronze in the 1994 World Junior Championship, hitting .313 with 13 runs, 6 doubles and a team-high 3 homers as their shortstop.

Piatt was at the center of baseball's first steroid-related conviction of a star player. He had discussed steroids with Miguel Tejada at one point during their careers; Tejada later told the US Congress he had never discussed steroids with any player. Once the lie came out, Tejada was convicted of lying to Congress.

Piatt holds the record for most home runs, triples and doubles for when they totaled the same amount. In 2000 as a rookie with the Oakland Athletics, he hit five of each.
