Biographical Information[edit]

Claudio Galva pitched in the minor leagues, Mexico, NPB and CPBL.

Galva was signed by the Oakland Athletics and was 2-1 with a 1.30 ERA for the 1997 DSL Athletics. In 1998, he went 11-0 with a 1.00 ERA for the team, leading the Dominican Summer League in wins (two ahead of Fabricio Benitez and Javier Calzada). He was second in ERA, .20 behind Juan Charles, and his 97 K were three shy of leader Aquilino Rojas. He was named the DSL All-Star LHP and also pitcher of the year. He was 6-2 with a 2.38 ERA for the AZL Athletics in his first year in the US. He was one win behind Arizona League co-leaders Juan Ovalles and Jake Peavy and third in ERA (after Peavy and Kurt Nantkes). He was named the league's All-Star left-handed pitcher.

He was 7-4 with a 3.62 ERA for the Visalia Oaks in 2000, then he recorded a 2.82 ERA in 55 appearances in 2001 with the Midland RockHounds. Galva was 5th in appearances in 2001 in the Texas League, 5 behind Travis Wade. He also was 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA for the Sacramento River Cats in his AAA debut. He was one win shy of Tyler Yates for the most in the A's chain. He then had a 3.74 ERA in 62 games in 2002 fir the RockHounds, and he led the TL in appearances. He led A's farmhands in appearances, four ahead of Justin Lehr. Galva only pitched one game with 2 runs allowed for the AAA Sacramento River Cats in 2003, then the Athletics released him.

The First Financial Holdings Agan signed him, and he was 4-6 with a 2.92 ERA in 2003. Had he qualified, He would have ranked 10th in ERA, between Hisanori Yokota and Osvaldo Martínez. Galva had a 4.68 ERA in 20 relief outings in 2004, and he left Taiwan after the 2004 season. He recorded a 4.56 ERA in 22 games in 2005 with the Elmira Pioneers, and the Chunichi Dragons of Japan signed him. However, Galva only pitched 3 games with a 11.25 ERA, and he was released in August. He then went 3-2 with a 4.10 ERA for the Acereros de Monclova in 2007, and he recorded a 7.32 ERA with the St. George Roadrunners. Galva's ERA was 5.11 in 32 games for the Calgary Vipers in 2010, and he had a 4.21 ERA in 28 games in 2011. He also pitched in the Dominican Winter League from 2006 to 2016.
