Biographical Information

Tyler Yates was drafted by the Oakland A's in the 23rd round of the 1998 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Eric Kubota and made his pro debut that summer.

He was only the thirteenth player ever to come out of Hawaii and play professional baseball. Of those, he was the only one from the University of Hawaii at Hilo.

He is the brother of Kirby Yates.
