Biographical Information[edit]
Chris Shehan was an All-American outfielder. His brother Jon Shehan also has played in the minors.
Chris Shehan was All-State as a sophomore first baseman in high school. He hit .556 as a junior. His senior year, he hit .468 with 11 homers and was All-State as a pitcher and third baseman while his school won Pennsylvania's AAA state championship.
Shehan hit .350 as a college freshman and fielded .947 at third base. As a sophomore, he led Georgia Southern in average. His junior year, he put up a batting line of .438/.557/.835 with 22 homers, 84 runs, 77 RBI and 22 steals. He led the Southern Conference in average, runs and hits and was named All-Conference, though Jeremie Tice was named Player of the Year. Nationally, Shehan tied Josh Phegley for second in NCAA Division I in average behind Buster Posey and was second in OBP, .009 behind Posey. Chris was third in slugging behind Posey and Tice, tied for 10th in homers (with Brett Wallace and one other), tied Andy Dirks for fifth in runs and was fourth in total bases behind Posey, Gordon Beckham and Tice. Baseball America and the American Baseball Coaches Association both named him a first-team All-American outfielder while Collegiate Baseball chose Sawyer Carroll, Bryan Miller and Brian Van Kirk instead.
The Atlanta Braves picked Shehan in the 30th round of the 2008 amateur draft. He hit .277/.350/.413 in 62 games for the Danville Braves then was promoted to the Rome Braves, where he was 5 for 14 with a double, triple, 3 steals, 2 runs and 5 RBI in four games.
In 2009, Chris split time between Rome (.248/.308/.336 in 66 G) and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (.261/.292/.391 in 39 G). He batted only .181/.277/.250 in his first 22 games for the Pelicans, then was released.
In 2011, Chris became an assistant coach under his brother at Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
