Biographical Information[edit]

Chris Kwitzer has played in the independent leagues and for the Spanish national team.

Kwitzer played baseball, hockey and football in high school. [1] He hit .219/.315/.344 as a college freshman, .261/.295/.361 as a sophomore and .285/.367/.436 as a junior. His senior season, he batted .348/.420/.510. The next year, 2018, he began his indy league journeys, appearing for four different teams - the Santa Fe Fuego (.429/.481/.729, 43 R, 11 HR, 42 RBI in 32 G), Salina Stockade (5 for 33, HR, BB), Hollywood Stars (10 for 35, 2 2B, HR, 2 BB) and Pittsburg Diamonds (.326/.420/.432 in 25 G).

In 2019, the corner infielder produced at a .309/.385/.500 clip with 56 RBI in 58 games for the Sonoma Stompers. He tied Justin Byrd for 9th in the Pacific Association in runs (50), 8th in hits (73, between Ermindo Escobar and Omar Artsen), was 7th in average (between Nick Ultsch and Brent Gillespie), tied for 5th in doubles (14) and tied Miles Williams for 3rd in RBI. [2] Most indie leagues shut down in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but he found time with two of the two leagues that operated. He posted a .261/.309/.437 line for the '21 Tri-City ValleyCats. With the 2022 New York Boulders, he improved to .298/.345/.531 with 20 dingers and 96 RBI, stealing 13 bases in 14 tries. He led the Frontier League in RBI, five ahead of former major leaguer Denis Phipps and Brennan Price.

Playing right field and DH for Spain in the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he grounded out against the South African national team's Justin Erasmus. His first hit was a double off Jared Elario to score Jesús Ustariz. He hit .313/.353/.375 with three runs in four games. [3]
