Team History[edit]

The Salina Stockade played in the Pecos League as an expansion team in 2016. However, given the geographic shift of the league after that season, Salina was left without a team as it was too far removed from the other remaining teams in the league. As compensation, the team was entered in the American Association in 2017 to replace the Laredo Lemurs, who folded just before the season was about to start. The team played largely a road schedule, with a team made up of players lent by Pecos League teams. That arrangement made it difficult to be competitive, but the team still managed to complete its season. The open spot in the league was then filled by the newly-created Chicago Dogs in 2018.

When the team was put together, veteran manager J.D. Droddy agreed to lead the team, but only until August 1st. He retired as planned that day, and Daniel Aldrich took over, but he also had an end date in mind, as he had to return to college on August 26th. Two Pecos League managers, David Peterson and T.J. Zarewicz joined the team as coaches in early August and co-managed the team for its final week.

In 2018, the team played a schedule of games as "guest team" in the Canadian-American Association, alongside the Dominican Republic Team and its replacement, the Hollywood Stars. In 2019, they moved to the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs where they played as a road team. The club was dropped by the Pecos League following the 2021 season
