Biographical Information

Chris Carminucci played one season in the minor leagues, in independent ball, before forging himself a decent career as a manager. In his one season as a player, he hit .183 in 53 games for the Tennessee Tomahawks of the Big South League in 1997. While he couldn't hit a lick, he had some talent as a teacher - he was already a player/coach in his rookie year - and found himself a string of jobs as a coach with various other independent teams. In 2004, he was with the Bangor Blue Ox of the Northern League East and even got into a couple of games as a third baseman. He has also been an assistant coach at St. John's University and in the Cape Cod League.

In 2005, the Northern League East ended its tenuous link with the Northern League and reorganized itself as the Can-Am Association. Lacking a team to make up the numbers, the league put together a road team - The Grays - and Carminucci got the chance to be their manager. Usually, road teams are composed of a ragtag bunch of players rejected by just about everyone and finish in the deepest reaches of the standings. However, Carminucci managed to forge his bunch of players into a relatively competitive unit and kept it out of last place, a major feat. That started a managerial career that has taken him first to the American Association in 2006, and back to the Can-Am Association since 2007. He had good success with the Atlantic City Surf, whom he guided to a 2nd place finish and a first-round exit in the postseason in 2007, and the Brockton Rox, who had the best record in the league in 2009 before losing the championship finals to the Capitales de Québec. He earned the league's Manager of the Year honors in both 2007 and 2009.

In addition to managing, he was the President and General Manager of Atlantic City in 2008, and became Head of business operations and co-owner of the Rox in 2010. He has also scouted for the Kansas City Royals and Philadelphia Phillies and runs a private baseball academy. In 2011, he hired former Boston Red Sox star Bill Buckner to succeed him as the Rox's manager in order to concentrate on his front office duties. As a scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks, he signed Elián Miranda.
